Responsibilities
My main responsibilities in this position is to help students understand the course material. This encompasses both lecturing, holding office hours, planning projects and grading homework assignments. Additionally, for BMGT406 I helped to create the course by attenting meetings with the professor and helping structure the flow of the course.
I also created a Security Presentation to present to the class, detailing security vulnerabilities that pertain both to PHP, Apache and networking.
Skills Learned/Enchanced
Thanks to this position, I have enhanced my skills in teaching, organization and time management.
What I like about the job
I love teaching students and helping them to understand concepts that were previously foreign to them. The techniques I am teaching will help them build their resumé and hopefully give them an edge when job hunting.
Responsibilities
One of my main responsibilities was network speed testing to help determine if Bloomberg should invest in revamping their overseas networking infrastructure to improve site speeds. Additionally, I created applications that are now used internally by Bloomberg developers to test multiple networks as quickly as possible.
Skills Leanred/Enhanced
This internship taught me many progrmaming and networking concepts that were previously unfamiliar to me. I learnt a new programming language, C#, and gained better proficiency with the Unix operating system and the Perl scripting language. I developed a couple of applications for the Mac operating system as well, giving me a well rounded internship, touching on multiple programming languages and techniques.
What I liked about this job
I learnt a lot of new techniques and technologies that were previously unfamiliar to me, which helped me decide to make security a major focus of mine in my remaining time studying Information Systems at school. I have been able to apply the techniques I have learnt to my current projects, and will be giving a presentation this semester on security practices.
Responsibilities
I was responsible for maintaining the current webpage, which was managed through a Content Management System called Kintera. I would create new pages and forms that were consistent with the look and feel of the website, generate reports on money raised and users added.
Skills Learned/Enhanced
Working with a non profit organization helped me learn about the different techniques used in trying to attract new users and members.
What I liked about this job
I enjoyed working with a small group of people who were a lot of fun to work with, and very helpful in teaching me how to use the system.
Responsibilities
I was in charge of assisting the instructor in teaching an Introduction to Robotics course to 6th and 7th grade boys and girls. Together with the instructor we created fun projects such as a robotic obstacle course, and robot soccer.
Skills Learned/Enhanced
Working as a Teaching Assistant taught me the fundamentals of teaching to younger children. I learnt how to discipline students, coordinate with fellow instructors and assistants.
Why I liked this job
It was a great feeling to be able to work with children and teach them the fundamentals of robotics, and to watch how quickly they learnt.
